Go with the man

His grip is tight and you again have to fight the urge to throw him off you. As his hand tightens, the pressure builds in your head. You gasp and your eyes close. His hand gets weaker and you feel him trip over his feet.

The pain in your head is matched only by the heat. It burns, hotter than any fever. The smell of roses is thick and cloying.

“What—what are you doing?” The man collapses at your feet, shaking. You look around and see people staring at you, backing away in horror. A woman screams and it’s like a spell has broken. People start fleeing, running into traffic, falling over each other—

The pain in your head is excruciating. What’s happening? What are you?

There’s a pain in your neck. You turn and see a boy dressed in black. There’s an empty syringe in his hand. He’s injected you with something.

“Who—?” The pain ends abruptly. Your vision swims and you see the boy reach out to catch you as you black out.
