This week has some action-packed books! Maybe the goodie bags from their book birthday parties will include sweet crime-fighting gear, like invisible ink and bullet-proof vests.

I don’t usually read books where a parent has cancer because they tend to be a little too sad for me, but this one promises a hopeful ending and outstanding, sensitive writing. I think I’ll give it a shot despite the subject matter – I especially like the chipped nail polish on the cover.
The Death Catchers by Jennifer Anne Kogler (8/16/11)
In this book, Lizzy learns that she’s a descendent of Morgan le Fay, and that her lineage comes with a daunting task. I love Arthurian legend, and Morgan is usually an under-loved character, so I’m looking forward to a book dedicated to her story.
Chain Reaction by Simone Elkeles (8/16/11)
Whyyyyy can’t there be more Fuentes brothers? In this third Perfect Chemistry novel, Luis, little bro of the über-sexy Alex and Carlos, gets a turn in the spotlight. Like his brothers, he deals with a tough neighborhood, faces difficult situations, and looks great with his shirt off.
The Auslander by Paul Dowswell (8/16/11)
What’s scarier than being the target of Nazis in 1940’s Germany? Not being a target, and having the courage to make yourself one by standing up for what’s right. This is a historical thriller about a German boy adopted into a Nazi family, and the terrifying decisions he makes.
Tunnel Vision by Susan Shaw (8/16/11)
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A BOOK ABOUT THE WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM! I don’t know why, I’ve just been really interested in it lately. This novel is about a girl who’s in a rush to get home, so she pushes her way through a group of thugs in an underpass – and it changes her life forever.
