Veronica Wolff on Her Second Identity

Isle of Night by Veronica Wolff (which you can begin reading on Figment here) is full of cool characters. There’s Annelise, who’s hit rock bottom and is clawing her way back up. And then there’s Ronan, the hottest vampire this side of Bon Temps. He could just be Annelise’s ticket out of her rapidly deteriorating life—if she can survive his home turf, that is. But out of all of the characters she’s created, which one is Veronica’s personal favorite?

If you could be any character in your novels, who would it be and why?

Oh, this is an easy one! I love Emma. I would totally want to be Emma, or at least have her as a friend. She’s quiet and a little uncomfortable in a way I can relate to. She’s a good friend. And the thing is, she is so completely capable. I mean, the girl knows how to skin a rabbit. *Shudder* In an apocalypse scenario, she’d be the one to have on your team. And, true confession here, I tend to think about apocalypse scenarios more than is probably healthy for me. So yeah, make me Emma.
