Gabrielle Zevin Contest Winners!

Well Figs, you banned everything from color and happiness to siblings and lovers for the Gabrielle Zevin Contest, and we can’t even tell you how glad we are that this is just a contest. Whew.

Congratulations to the two winners, chosen by Gabrielle Zevin herself!

First Place: “Watercolor Ghost” by Ariadne
Second Place: “Unnecessary Questions” by Amanda Ricketson

Both winners will receive Godiva Chocolate Truffle Coffee and Figment tote bags, and Ariadne will also win a copy of Gabrielle Zevin’s All These Things I’ve Done.

To all of the finalists, Gabrielle Zevin says:

“Dear finalists:

Thanks for the colorful and varied entries! The work I was most drawn to had a combination of original concept – i.e., something I hadn’t read before —Β and voice.

I remember entering writing contests when I was a teen – Β I lost far more frequently than I won. The point is to keep entering contests, keep reading, keep writing. You get better from doing it, but also, the more you do it, the greater the likelihood you’ll come across people who do get your work. These people are your readers.Β

Yours,
Gabrielle Zevin”

  1. I didn’t enter this contest, but I think what Gabrielle said was awesome. If you want to make it as a writer, you have to keep trying. πŸ™‚
