We love Candice Accola on The Vampire Diaries, where she plays Caroline Forbes–the former perfect perky cheerleader turned, well, you know . . . The actress/singer/songwriter took time out of her super-packed schedule to tackle some of the questions you figs posted on the forums. Read below for her take on Stefan and Caroline, behind-the-scenes wackiness, and her love for Caroline’s passionate personality.
Q: If you could change one thing about Caroline’s character and her personality, what would it be?
A: I wouldn’t change a thing! I think the writers have crafted such an honest, imperfect, and endearing character in Caroline. I love that she will be the first one to admit her faults. I love her insatiable appetite for love. I love that she and I both will use any excuse to throw a party.
Q: Will you release another CD? Will Caroline sing on TVD again?
A: Who knows! I do know that Caroline has made her one and only singing debut on TVD. That will forever be an unforgettable day in shooting the series. I was so happy.
Q: If Stefan and Caroline ever get together, what do you envision to be the potential couple’s top 3 obstacles?
A: 1. Wardrobe. There is no way Caroline would continue to let Stefan dress so dark and dreary anymore. 2. Hair. I think Stefan would be very annoyed if Caroline ever touched his hair. Like, ever. 3. Um, that he’s star crossed lovers with her best friend!!!
Q: Do you find that you relate to your character on some level? And if not, do you like playing someone who you are not like?
A: I believe that part of an actor’s job is to find a way TO relate to the character they play. In this particular circumstance I am able to relate to Caroline very easily. I too have been a teenage girl starved to be loved while ultimately believing that nobody understands me and anything that ever happens is the biggest deal and will change everything forever! I’ve also had some years to grown up which is what Caroline is doing. With or without the supernatural aspect of her character I think she’s written in a way that’s relatable to a lot of girls and young women alike.
Q: What’s one of your favorite funny/embarrassing behind-the-scenes moment?
A: There’s a new one every day. Going to work is like watching an episode of 30 Rock. So many funny things are said and done and by the end of it I’ve been so distracted laughing, I can’t remember any of them.
Q: When your character transform into a vampire, is your transformation digitally produced or done through makeup?
A: My transformation was done digitally. The only make up effects were my teeth and the blood.
