Your Chance to Pick the Best Books of the Year!

Our buds at YALSA are pretty famous for their awards–the Morris goes to the year’s best YA book by a debut author; the Edwards is a lifetime achievement award; the Printz goes to the best all-around-awesome YA book of the year (John Corey Whaley, we’re looking at you).

These awards are given out by committees of highly esteemed, VIP readers, but YALSA knows we, the readers, also like to get our judgment on, and so each year they hold the Teens’ Top Ten. Here’s how it works: YALSA teen groups around the country select a list of nominated books (anything published between January 1, 2011 and March 15, 2012 was eligible); the rest of us spend the summer reading and evaluating; and then in August and September we vote for the best of the best!

The 2012 nominees are:

Congratulations to all the nominees! Get reading Figs . . . and report back in August ready to vote!

  1. I have only read Eona and Divergent. Divergent was a lot like The Hunger Games, but also very different. It is a very good book, and good read for Hunger Games fans. Eona is a very good book for fantasy-readers. At some points it does get graphic, but overall I liked it. 🙂
