LA Times Book Awards Flash-Fiction Contest Day One

We might have mentioned it once. Or twice. Or several times with an Alan Rickman on top. But what can we say? We’re chuffed to bits that we won the L.A. Times Books Prizes Innovator’s Award and that we got six funny-beyond-funny comic actors to read aloud stories from Figment—stories written by people like you, or by you yourself!—at The L.A. Times Festival of Books on April 21. Michael Ian Black, Andrea Savage, Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Martin Starr, and Michael Hitchcock—reading YOUR stories!

We’ll, we’re still going! And this week, to celebrate, we’re holding a week-long flash fiction contest involving classic comedy items. Each day we’ll reveal a new item, and you’ll have the next 24 hours to write and publish a story of fewer than 400 words that includes that item–and don’t forget that it’ll need that day’s tag. One story will be chosen each day as the winning entry. Winners will receive classic gag comedy items! Too bad Fred (RIP) and George Weasley aren’t Figmenters–this’d be right up their alley.
