The Lucky One Flash Fiction Contest

It’s the day we’ve been counting down to all week! Of course, we always look forward to Fridays, but this one’s extra-special: it’s the day The Lucky One movie premieres! The movie stars Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling and promises to be fantastic, since it’s based on a book by Nicholas Sparks.

You can start reading The Lucky One on Figment now. And if you’re feeling inspired by Logan Thibault’s lucky charm–the picture he credits with his survival in the Iraq War–enter our flash fiction contest and write about one of your own! We’ll be featuring the four best stories on the Figment homepage.

Your Challenge:

Find an object that’s currently in your pocket, bag, or desk. Now, in 100 words or fewer, write about it as if it has some incredibly important meaning for you.

How to Enter:

1. Read the promotion guidelines here.
2. Create an account on Figment.com.
3. Start a new writing of 100 words or fewer.
4. Tag your writing with SparksLuckyCharm on the Details tab.
5. Press “Publish Now.”
6. You should receive a pop-up confirmation of your entry, and in about two hours or so, your piece should appear among the submissions.

Make sure to tag your story by 11:59p.m. ET on April 22, 2012. The Figment editorial team will be judging entries based on quality, creativity, and relevance to the prompt. Four winners will be chosen to be featured on the Figment homepage. This contest is open to international users.
