The Girl in the Clockwork Collar Flash-Fiction Contest Day Three

In honor of Kady’s Steampunk series, the Steampunk Chronicles (you can begin reading both The Girl in the Steel Corset and The Girl in the Clockwork Collar on Figment) we’re launching a week-long flash-fiction contest. Each day, we’ll be giving you a picture of a Steampunk-inspired object–a gadget, an article of clothing, a tool, etc.–and asking you to use the item in a story of fewer than 200 words.

Today’s Prompt (chosen by author Kady Cross!):

Tag your story SteampunkChronicles and CrossFlash3 by 11:59p.m. ET on Friday, June 15.

How to Enter:

1. Read the full rules.
2. Create an account on Figment.com.
3. Start a new writing of 200 words or fewer.
4. Tag your writing with SteampunkChronicles and CrossFlash3 on the Details tab.
5. Press “Publish Now.”
6. You should receive a pop-up confirmation of your entry, and in about two hours or so, your piece should appear among the submissions.

You can enter one story for each prompt, and each of the prompts can be completed at any time during the week. The Figment editors will be choosing the five best entries from each day’s prompt to send to Kady Cross herself, who will be choosing one winner for each prompt. The winning entries will each receive a prize pack of books including The Girl in the Steel Corset and The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross, Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter, Soul Screamers Volume One by Rachel Vincent, Saving June by Hannah Harrington, The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa, and Spellcaster by Cara Lynn Shultz.
