Stars! They Read Like Us: Keegan Allen

When heartthrob Keegan Allen first appeared on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars as the mysterious and enigmatic Toby Cavanaugh, it’s no lie that our little Figgie hearts beat a little bit faster.  Actually a lot faster.  And now that season three has begun–with plenty of Toby on the slate!–we have more questions than ever about the “Black Cat” of Rosewood.  While Keegan, whose resume also includes stints on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Nickleodeon’s Big Time Rush, isn’t giving away any pretty little spoilers, read on for a peak into his bookish tendencies…including his literary crush on a certain Russian aristocrat. (And be sure to tune in to Pretty Little Liars on  on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET for more Keegan!)

What’s the book that you’re proudest of having finished?
I was very proud to have finished reading Dream Psychology by Sigmund Freud

Have you ever lied about having read a book to impress someone? (If yes, what was the book and why?)
I would just go get the book and read it. Sometimes I get books mixed up though, or worse–I start reading one–and then hop to another one that someone recommends. Then months later, I’ll finish the first one.

What’s the one book that you’ve sworn to read before you die?
Jane Eyre. It’s a heady read.

What are your five Desert Island Books?
Definitely a role-playing adventure book like Be an Interplanetary Spy
Chariots of the Gods (I bring that book with me everywhere)
Robinson Crusoe
A survivalist guide of some sort… haha
And The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Who?
Anna Karenina

If you could play any character from a book, who would you choose?
Holden Caulfield

Do you have a book on you right now? What is it?
I am reading a play–That Championship Season by Jason Miller–and a biography on Marlon Brando called Conversations with Brando

What’s the best book to give to someone you secretly want to ask out?
Frankenstein hahaha

What’s the one book that would be a deal-breaker if you saw it on a date’s bookshelf?
I never judge a book by its cover

What’s a book that’s made you:

Blush: 50 Shades of Grey

Shiver: The Day of the Locust

Cry: Just Kids by Patti Smith

Laugh out loud: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

  1. Jane Eyre isn’t a heavy read, I’m 17, dutch and have read it a few montha ago. So you should just start reading it.

  2. Jane Eyre is one of my favorites! Give it a go, you’ll get into it, I think, after a couple chapters. It’s actually a really WEIRD book, so I think you’ll be entertained by it.

  3. I hate Anna Karenina! She was so manipulative and dramatic. Levin was the best character in that book by far (though he was not crush worthy). Jane Eyre is such a strange book. I totally was cheering for the crazy woman in the attic called Bertha. Everyone should read Wide Sargasso Sea which was a book telling the entire untold backstory of ‘Bertha.’
