Julia Goldani Telles, who plays the rebellious Sasha Torres on ABC Family’s Bunheads (Mondays at 9 pm EDT!), may be new to Hollywood, but she’s no stranger to the stage–or to books! At only seventeen, she has danced in Brazil, New York, and Los Angeles and been featured in numerous ballets, including Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Don Quixote and Swan Lake. But as she expands her repertoire to include television acting, she knows the best way to keep it classy is to keep reading, and she stopped by Figment to share some of her favorite titles with us. Turns out her interests extend almost as far as her arabesque!
If you could play anyone from a book, who would you choose?
I recently finished Just Kids which is a memoir by Patti Smith. She’s had the most interesting life—I’d love to play her.
Do you have a book on you right now? What is it?
I just started The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
What’s the best book to give to someone you secretly want to ask out?
Veinte Poemas de Amor y Una Cancion Desesperada by Pablo Neruda. (So admittedly your intentions would be pretty obvious… and okay you might be coming on a little strong…but it’d be worth it)
What’s a book that’s made you:
Blush: Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Go Ask Alice by Anonymous
Laugh out loud:
The Bedwetter by Sarah Silverman
