Emma Dumont, who plays Melanie Segal, the fun-loving ballet student in ABC Family’s Bunheads, has been a part of the entertainment world since she started dance lessons at age 3. Starring alongside Julia Goldani Telles (who also stopped by Figment recently), Emma is similarly a highly skilled ballerina, having trained at the Joffrey Ballet School and the American Ballet Theatre School. But the stage is only one part of Emma’s showbiz life. She graced the small screen in Academy Award winner Stephen Gaghan’s NBC pilot METRO, and the big one in the 2012 Sundance Film Festival feature Nobody Walks. She also plays the viola, builds robots, and rocks the roller derby in her spare time — and, of course, she loves to read! Check out her bookish faves below.
