The Six Worst Kidz Bop Lyric Changes

When most Top 40 hits include suggestive lyrics and bad language, what’s a poppy tween cover band to do? Use their words like the big kids and flex that lyrical license. These songs represent some of the worst and silliest Kidz Bop cover-ups around.

“Alejandro” by Lady Gaga
Original lyric: “Don’t wanna kiss; don’t wanna touch. Just smoke one cigarette and hush.”
Kidz Bop lyric: “Don’t wanna miss; don’t want too much. Just walk away from me and hush.”

“Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO
Original lyric: “We gon’ make you lose your mind. We just wanna see ya…SHAKE THAT!”
Kidz Bop lyric: “We gon’ make you lose your mind. We just wanna see ya…DANCE THAT!”

“Tik Tok” by Ke$ha

Kidz Bop lyric: “Pulling up to the party. Tryna get a little bit siiiiillllyyy.”

Kidz Bop lyric: “I woke up with a strange hairdo.”

“Let it Rock” by Kevin Rudolf (video above)

  1. Gotta love how the girls in that video are all unbelievably skinny. They change even the most mild lyrics and they still perpetuate those kinds of stereotypes. Which is more dangerous to kids?

  2. Oh, this is hilarious.. What’s even more hilarious is that every child is going to sing the real lyric anyway. They made those poor preteens sing lyrics more stupid and meaningless than the original!
Also, Kidz Bop 22? Give it up, people.

    • I never liked Kidzbop, I always thought it was stupid and ruined songs. It amazes me that they are still making money.

  3. 1:15 the little girl in the middle with the blonde hair looks like she may be giving the finger… And I thought they changed the lyrics :/

  4. My personal favorite is The One That Got Away—”On my eighteenth birthday we got matching tattoos” becomes “On my last birthday you gave me some balloons”. The boy in question has his “heartbreak removed” rather than the tattoo on top of that.

  5. I love how Kidz Bop is just making themselves look like fools. The kids that live across the street know these songs and sing the swears. Mind you, they are five and six.

  6. most of them are stupid. i just dont get how tattoo is a bad word. and hairdo is just stupid, if the song is bad, DON’T SING IT!

  7. Well it’s a close call between kesha and nicki minaj. just gotta say, for all who watched the video, those kids sounded incredibly unenthusistic compared to the kids who were lip-synching along.

  8. ok so these are hilarious. i can see why u wouldn’t want little kids too swear but seriously, “dance that” and “don’t wanna miss don’t want too much”? Now that is just stupid and half of them are more suggestive then the original. They are just gonna sing the original anyway! oh well kids are kids 🙂

  9. Heh-LLO?? What about in “The Lazy Song”–meet a really nice girl, send some really nice texts. It’s ridiculous! 😀

  10. I just think that the replaced Kidzbop lyrics should have the same overall connotation as the original. So replacing “stuck your middle finger” with “raise your hand” is just making it silly and not make sense and *headdesk*

  11. haha lol so true! all of these changes are so stupid that it’s funny! they don’t even make sense! It’s funny i used to like that!!!! when i was five we would dance around in the front yard to it!!!! hahaha

  12. Oh god I hate Kidzbop!!! I got one (I think in a happy meal or something)and when I heard them ruining my favorite songs I threw it away. I wanted to burn it but my mom wouldnt let me 😛

  13. How can they include “drive by” in the song? Obviously a reference to a shooting! Here’s the worst lyric in my opinion. “Call Me Maybe”- your stare was holding, ripped jeans, smiles showing. WTF?

  14. Why do little kids need to be listening to crap music like this, anyway? For most of them, even the original lyrics are stupid and trite. So I personally don’t see the difference.

Give them some classic rock to listen to, instead. At least with that (depending on who it is), you don’t even have to worry about changing the lyrics, and the music and performance is just better all around. Everyone’s happy.

  15. there missing one
gangman style by Pys everyone know’s the real lyrics but kidz bop say’s “hey ya lady ” which is the dumbest thing ever . but “have a thing ” sounds really wrong . i dont get it how you can get “shake that” to “dance that” or “middle finger” to “waving hands”. even when i was little i hated kidz bop or “kidz glop”

  16. Why do they even do this? I also agree with most people, “have a thing” is way more… inappropriate than “have a bud light”.
Also, in “So What” by P!nk, it’s completely okay for them to go “I’m gonna start a fight! We’re all gonna get in a fight!” etc.
    They are so dumb O.O
