Beautiful Lies Flash-Fiction Contest Day 2

Jessica Warman’s new novel, Beautiful Lies, takes place in a seemingly normal suburban setting. But something is not quite right. Alice and Rachel are identical twins who are linked not just by looks, but by a unique psychic bond. When one of them goes missing, the other begins to a frantic search to save her sister.

Inspired by Jessica Warman’s dark and brooding settings, we’ve got a weeklong flash-fiction contest for you! Each day we’ll be giving you a new setting—some place that seems totally normal. Your challenge: In 150 words or less, write a descriptive scene about the setting that feels creepy and menacing.

Today’s setting: A suburban public high school

  1. Oh, thank goodness! I wanted to put them all on the same published writing, but using different chapters to separate the different days of the contest.

So, what I understand from reading Olivia’s question and Emily’s response, I’m allowed to do that?
