Soulbound Short Story Contest Winners!

In Heather Brewer’s Soulbound, Kaya has to make a difficult choice between Trayton, the good guy, and Darius, the bad boy. Inspired by her romantic predicament, we challenged you to write a short story about a love triangle. You wrote, you voted, and we sent the finalists to author Heather Brewer for judging. Now the results are in! Take a look at the top three entries and congratulate the winners!

Grand-Prize Winner:
Best Friend Boyfriend by Mackenzie Bath
Heather says: “In the end, one story stuck with me the most. It made me want to follow those characters and find out what happens to them after their story ended here. For me, the winner was absolutely Best Friend Boyfriend by Mackenzie Bath. Mackenzie did the impossible—she enveloped me in a present-tense voice that totally works for the story. I adore the main character, Zoe, who isn’t perfect, but follows her heart to the end. It’s a wonderful story, and I’m so glad I read it!”

Congrats, Mackenzie! You’ll receive copies of Soulbound, First Kill, and an Advance Reader Copy of Second Chance, all by Heather Brewer.

Second Place:
The 25 Cent Promise by Paige Marie

Great job, Paige! You’ll receive copies of Soulbound and Twelfth Grade Kills, both by Heather Brewer.

Third Place:
Snakeskin by Jenna Rayman

Way to go, Jenna! You’ll receive a copy of Soulbound by Heather Brewer.

  1. I am so honored! If Heather is reading this, thank you so much, you can’t imagine how much that means to me. Congratulations to Paige and Jenna and all the other finalists! I read all the stories and I loved them all!

  2. Congrats to all the winners. Mackenzie, I am so proud of you and I was especially touched that Heather said you did the impossible by enveloping her in a present tense.
