Nightlight by Inita Grace

Here, at her aunt’s house, the human lights were all turned off and the dark woods seemed to pull the night down faster, like a warm blanket that would lull it to sleep. The window on the far side of the room looked like it had black paper stretched behind the glass. Its emptiness was so complete that Cassie could see her own reflection in its surface.

Sneaky Sarcasm by Sienna

My iPod was tucked into the pocket of my jean shorts, and my headphones were tucked into my ears, playing my favorite music, until Peter came up behind me and pulled them out. I glared at him as he laughed and went deeper into the water. He splashed me and I gaped at him in anger for a moment before quickly pulling my iPod out of my pocket and making sure it wasn’t wet.

Midnight Sky by Lexi

A young dreamer
Chasing the thought
Of midnight sky
Where everything seems
To be
More alive

Dreamland by Milan Liu

The sky above twinkles with a million stars. A blackbird swoops through the air and settles on a branch. The cherry blossoms begin to burst, red stains the bird’s black feathers. Soon enough, all of the blossoms have burst, leaving the bare branches of the tree dripping with the red. The stench of blood—rust and salt—fills the air.

Tip of the Iceburg by Kira Nicole

There was a knock on the front door.  She threw a warm, fuzzy sweater over her head before she went to answer it.  Her boyfriend stood in the doorway with a smile on his red face. He dangled his keys and grabbed her hand.  He then pulled her to his car and opened the passenger side.  There was a big box with a bow on her seat.
