  1. NOOOO!!!

    I’m still editing!!!!

    Draft #9!!!!

I hope I’m ready by Friday- I want to enter a day early, just in case.

Best of luck to everyone else! It’ll be such an honor just to enter! ♥

  2. So it ends just before midnight on Saturday? Not on Friday at midnight? Just making sure. It’s a relief to know we have Saturday to work on it too. :3

  3. I posted my story, and when I hit publish it said that I was entered into the contest. However, I did not receive a confirmation email, and I don’t see my story filed with the other entries. Who can I contact to assist with this?

    Thank you!
    Kat

    • Hey Kat–

As long as your entry was-
-published, not saved as a draft
-created between the announcement and end of the contest
      -tagged correctly

It is somewhere in the entries. You may not be able to find it since there are hundreds of entries, but it is there.

  4. I’m done my story but the word count won’t register the 3,971 words that I wrote! It’s saying that there are 0 words! It’ll be disqualified if I enter it! So how can I fix this problem? FAST!

  5. I ENTERED AN HOUR LATE, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STILL MAKE IT COUNT.

I WILL HAVE A HEART ATTACK IF IT DOESN’T, I WORKED A WHOLE MONTH ON IT…. PLLLLLLLLLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. IM GOING TO CRY!

    • Hey Mandee- If you entered your story at the time of this comment, you’re almost 11 hours before the deadline. The deadline was 11:59 p.m. on September 1. While we are unable to make any exceptions for deadlines, you might have gotten it in time. Side note: I’m going to hide the rest of your comments, but in the future, please refrain from spamming the blog comments.

  6. Im so sorry for all those posts, I just realized that I messed up and the timing was correct and that I not late.

I’m so sorry! I’m so happy and sorry.

    Thanks

  7. If we have submitted a new writing and tagged it “defy the dark” is it automatically entered? Will we receive confirmation, or is there any way to confirm it is entered? THANKS!!!

    • Hey HNG-
As long as your entry was-

  8. Is the only way to see the submissions by searching the library for tags with defythedark? Is there a difference between tagging ‘defythedark’ verses ‘DefytheDark’? I chose the former and see now that the guidelines list the latter. Do I need to edit it to qualify? Thanks!

  9. I posted my daughter’s story for her as she is at work. Her name is Isabel Krasa, she is the author of “Hecklers” and she is 21. Isabel has never been published. Please don’t confuse me, age 56, with my daughter Isabel, who is 21. She meets all the qualifications required to enter the “Defy the Dark New Author Contest.”

    Thank You,
    Laurie Clayton
