When Katharine Tulman is sent to her uncle’s manor house she has no idea what to expect. Her aunt is afraid he’s a lunatic squandering the family fortune. But Katharine discovers he’s actually a genius inventor, albeit an eccentric one.
Katharine’s uncle is obsessed with creating automatons—lifelike machines made of clock parts and built to look like humans, animals, or fantastical creatures. Uncle Tulman created some to remind him of lost loved ones, but he also built striking peacocks and dragons, even a fish that really swims.
Sharon Cameron‘s debut novel, The Dark Unwinding is filled with remarkable inventions that surprise and delight. Inspired by Uncle Tulman’s elaborate automatons, we’re having a Twitter contest to give you a chance to win a copy of the book!
