Sophie isn’t heartless, but definitely doesn’t have her mother’s passion for animals. Her mom thinks that the mistreatment of animals is a bad reflection on humanity. She’s so dedicated to her cause that she lives in the Congo, where she runs a bonobo sanctuary. Sophie, somewhat begrudgingly, spends her summers there.
When a revolution breaks out, the sanctuary is attacked and Sophie is forced to hide in the jungle with the rescued bonobos. Together, they fight to survive and discover what being human really means.
Inspired by Sophie’s dedication to the bonobos in Eliot Schrefer’s new novel Endangered (which was just nominated for a National Book Award!), we’re hosting a Twitter contest! We’ll be tweeting out some fascinating facts about bonobos. Retweet these facts for a chance to win a copy of the book!
