Break My Heart 1,000 Times: Short-Story Contest

Break My Heart 1,000 Times by Daniel Waters is set in a world where ghosts are commonplace. In fact, Veronica sees one in her bathroom every morning as she gets ready for school. Ever since the Event, everyone is haunted.

When Veronica and her friend Kirk begin to videotape the ghosts for a school assignment, they come to view these apparitions as more than just everyday occurences. But their investigation also leads them to uncover a mystery more terrifying than anything they imagined. It involves their creepy English teacher, August Bittner, who believes his dead daughter will come back to life—if she has the right body to inhabit. August has been murdering girls for years in hopes of finding a live host for his daughter. And he’s convinced that Veronica is the perfect match.

  1. Not sure if you guys would know this, but does it have to literally be haunted by a ghost? Or can it be haunted by a memory?

    • Hey Shanea-

As long as your entry is:
      -Tagged correctly
-Published (not saved as a draft)
-Created after the announcement of the contest

      You’re all set!

  2. Mine still hasn’t popped up onto the entries list, and when I published it, it didn’t have like a conformation about me entering….

  3. Haunted by a split personality which is growing worse and the character is starting to fade away while his two minds separate. His girlfriend, what’s left of him, and his two other minds are powerless to stop it!
