Time Between Us: Weekend Flash-Fiction Contest

There is something special about Bennett. Anna has a good feeling about him from the moment they first meet. We soon find out that “special” doesn’t even begin to explain Bennet. He has the power to time travel—and he can take Anna with him! Anna has always dreamed of seeing the world and now she’s met a cute boy who can whisk her away at a moment’s notice—no plane tickets required.

But Anna is from 1995 and Bennett is 2011. At any moment he could be knocked back into his present. He might seem pretty perfect, but he’s not exactly reliable. Then again, not many guys take you to a deserted beach in Thailand for your first date!

“I prop myself up on my elbows, ruining his little sandpile, and I look at him. Then I look around at this beautiful setting—palm trees and white sand and turquoise water—this postcard he’s just magically inserted the two of us into, and I start to understand how implausible this whole thing really is.” —Time Between Us, page 124

Inspired by Tamara Ireland Stone’s debut novel, Time Between Us, and the amazing time-traveling, globe-trotting adventures of Bennett and Anna, we’ve got a weekend flash-fiction contest for you!

Your challenge: In 500 words or fewer, write a short story about taking a trip to an amazing location. Use all your senses to describe it: sights, sounds, smells.

    • Hey Swayzeee!

As long as your entry is:
      -Tagged correctly
-Published (not saved as a draft)
-Created after the announcement of the contest

      You’re all set!

  1. Ooh this sounds fun ^.^ Not sure if I’m right but I do believe you used the wrong sight. You put sites whereas it should be sights. Though it could be my tired mind flipping things around.

  2. When will the judging start??? I am anxious to know the top 5. They said they will do it around the 22 of October, and it’s the 27! Can you please speed up the process?
