Throne of Glass Short-Story Contest Winners!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas tells the story of Celaena Sardothien, the deadliest killer in the realm of Ardalan. As she seeks to win the title of king’s assassin, Celaena encounters intrigue at every turn. Not to mention the kingdom itself is in turmoil: Even though the king banned magic, it still exists in the halls of his beloved glass castle.

In honor of Celaena’s adventures, we asked you to write a story about a world where magic once existed but doesn’t anymore. You wrote, voted, and we sent the top 10 most-hearted stories to Sarah for judging. Now we’re pleased to announce the winners!

Check out the winning stories below and congratulate your fellow Figs!

Grand Prize: The Westerlies by Alexandra Ray

Sarah says: “I loved the voice, the dark and magical atmosphere, the world-building . . . I was sucked in right from the first sentence and didn’t want it to end. Fabulous job, Alexandra!”

Well done, Alexandra! You will receive a copy of Throne of Glass, a Throne of Glass necklace, and a $15 Amazon gift card.

Second Place: The Coming Day by Alyssa Hollingsworth

Sarah says: “I just loved the sense of history and world-building in this. Some of the imagery was quite striking and beautiful, and I just loved the idea of a sleeping king who will not wake until a bell is rung. Really cool stuff.”

Great work, Alyssa! You will receive a copy of Throne of Glass and a $10 Amazon gift card.

Third Place: The Fairy Question by Morgan Cohen

Sarah says: “I loved the dynamic between the characters, the sense of history between them, as well as the world-building! It was all woven really well together in such a short amount of space—I’m definitely impressed!”

Yay, Morgan! You will receive a copy of Throne of Glass.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who entered the contest!
