The Darkest Minds: Mid-Week Flash-Fiction Contest

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra BrackenThe Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken is set in the near future; a plague has ravaged the U.S., leaving millions of children dead. Those who do survive are shipped off to brutal “rehabilitation camps”—their bright futures all but destroyed.

There are a few kids who manage to escape and for the most part they head to one place: East River. This safe haven is just a campground in the woods, but it means so much to the teens that gather there. It’s a place where they can be free from government oppression and begin to organize themselves to fight for their lives.
