Hysteria Short-Story Contest

Hysteria by Megan MirandaMallory killed her boyfriend, Brian, in self-defense. But she doesn’t remember exactly what happened the night he broke into her house and she finds it impossible to forgive herself. It doesn’t help that Brian’s mother is stalking her—or that his ghost haunts her dreams.

When Mallory’s parents decide to send her to Monroe, a boarding school in New Hampshire, she doesn’t put up much of a fight. Maybe a fresh start is what she needs. But secrets aren’t safe at Monroe. And while, Mallory might be trying to put the past behind her, there are others who are trying to use it against her.

Inspired by Hysteriaby Megan Miranda, we’ve got a new short-story contest for you. In 1,200 words or fewer, write a story about a character who’s running from their past.

One grand-prize winner will receive copies of Hysteria and Fracture by Megan Miranda; Beautiful Lies and Between by Jessica Warman; Dead Girls Don’t Lie (which isn’t out until September 2013!) and Breaking Beautiful by Jennifer Shaw Wolf. The grand-prize winner will also receive a $15 Amazon gift card and the chance to choose the Figment homepage stories for one day.

One second prize winner will receive copies of Hysteria and Fracture by Megan Miranda, and Beautiful Lies and Between by Jessica Warman.

One third prize winner will receive copies of Hysteria and Fracture by Megan Miranda.
