On February, 28 at 7 p.m. ET, join Figment and Random House debut authors Rachel Hartman (Seraphina), Alexandra Monir (Timekeeper), and Elizabeth LaBan (The Tragedy Paper) — plus special guest Erin Clarke, editor at Random House imprint Knopf Books for Young Readers — for a live chat all about selling your first book.
But Figment! you exclaim. Hundreds of people submit questions for authors at your events. How can I make sure my extremely important question gets answered?
We’re glad you asked. By entering our mini writing contest! The prizes: free books, plus YOUR question answered by the panel.
Prompt (two parts!):
Write a scene in which you (or a character you create) have just discovered you’re going to be published. After your scene, include three questions you would like to ask Rachel, Alexandra, Elizabeth, or Erin.
Your story and your questions together must be less than 200 words. Tag your writing InStoresNow. You have until Tuesday, February 26 at 11:59 p.m. ET to enter.
Figment editors will read all of the entries. Three winners will be announced during the In Stores Now! chat on Thursday, February 28, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
Figment editors will choose one question from each winner, which the moderator will ask the panelists.
Each winner will also receive four debut books from Random House:
Prize pack: Seraphina, The Tragedy Paper, Timeless, and Dualed, by Elsie Chapman.
