Be Still My Heart: The Dreamiest Rulers in Pop Culture

Alaya JohnsonIn The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson, Enki has just been crowned the new Summer King. He’s gorgeous and charismatic, and everyone in the city loves him. As for June, though, she has a connection with Enki that goes beyond physical attraction. June and Enki are both artists, and this bond strengthens their already growing relationship.

Enki’s just one of many super-hot rulers from books, movies, and TV. Whether they’re supreme empresses or lowly princes, these people in power know a thing or two about looking good. Which ruler is the dreamiest of them all? Check out our picks below, then vote for your favorite!

The Little Mermaid, DisneyPrince Eric

The Little Mermaid

There are tons of dreamy Disney princes, but there’s something about Eric we just love. We don’t know whether it’s his cute smile or his superior swimming skills or possibly the luxurious beachside castle. All we know is that Eric is a super cool prince, even if he does fall in love with a woman who can’t speak.

Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones, Song of Ice and Fire, George RR MartinDaenerys Targaryen

Game of Thrones

Not only is Daenerys beautiful, she’s also a natural-born leader who wins the respect and admiration of all her followers. Her goal is to reclaim her place as the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, and she’ll stop at nothing to accomplish it. This future queen’s got the whole package: beauty, brains, and bravery.

Prince Charmont, Hugh Dancy, Ella Enchanted, Gail Carson LevinePrince Char

Ella Enchanted

Prince Charmont’s name basically means “Prince Charming,” so he’s off to a promising start already. He’s super attractive, way popular, and in the movie version, he even has a posse of fangirls that follows him wherever he goes. Plus, he’s the heir to the throne and a good dancer. What more could a girl ask for?

The Princess Bride, Robin WrightButtercup

The Princess Bride

Okay, so Buttercup doesn’t actually get to take the throne, but she comes pretty close. Beloved by everyone in the kingdom and considered to be the most beautiful woman in a hundred years, Buttercup clearly surpasses her creepy fiancé, Prince Humperdinck, on every level. Her beauty is inconceivable!

Avatar: The Last Airbender, Nickelodeon, Dante BascoZuko

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Zuko might not be your average hottie (see: disfigured face, permanently grumpy attitude), but we think he’s pretty dreamy anyway. Although all the whining about honor can get a little out of hand, the crown prince of the Fire Nation is the perfect mix of broody, attractive, and brave.

Chris HemsworthThor

The banished heir to the throne of Asgard, Thor is super strong, super powerful, and super handsome. He might be a bit quick to start battles, but it’s clear he loves his kingdom and his heart is ultimately in the right place. Plus, he’s the god of thunder. It doesn’t get much more powerful than that!

  1. I think all the Avatar fans’ eyes immediately zeroed in on the pic of Zuko’s face when they were checking DailyFig (or maybe that’s just me hehe).

  2. Thor!!! You guys have got to be kidding!
Zuko is not attractive at all!!!
Although Prince Eric I think is pretty handsome, and has a nice smile, he should be disqualified for not being a ruler. Yeah, he’s the prince, but he’s not actually the ruler yet. Just my opinion.

  3. Good lord…Zuko’s rules by 75%! Not that I’m too surprised though…there was never really any competition. 😉 Zuko forever. <3

  4. I came here because I saw Zuko’s face, but I’m afraid Char came away with my vote.
I mean, come ON! He’s absolutely adorable! E.E. is my feel-better book.

  5. I had no idea Zuko was so…in the lead, but boy, am I glad 😀 He is AWESOME. Avatar geeks unite 😉

(I saw Zuko’s face and just clicked on this not caring what it was about >:D)
