“On the Road” Guest of Honor Contest

Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan Live ChatOn Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. ET, authors Maureen Johnson (The Madness Underneath) and Sarah Rees Brennan (Unspoken) will be stopping by Figment for On the Road—a live chat from their book tour! We’ll be talking about all things writing-related, including The Bane Chronicles, a series of novellas that Maureen and Sarah are writing with Cassandra Clare, which are set in the world of Cassandra’s Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series.

We know you’re SUPER EXCITED to chat with these fantastic authors, but we bet you’d be even more excited if Maureen and Sarah answered YOUR question! Well, today’s your lucky day! Win our mini writing contest, and we’ll guarantee that your question is answered at the chat.

Write a scene set on a road trip. After your scene, include three questions you would like to ask Maureen and/or Sarah.

Your story and your questions together must be no more than 200 words. Tag your writing OntheRoad. You have until Tuesday, March 19 at 11:59 p.m. ET to enter.

Prizes:

Figment editors will read all of the entries. Three winners will be announced during the On the Road chat on Thursday, March 21, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

Figment editors will choose one question from each winner, which the moderator will ask the panelists.

Each winner will also receive a prize pack of books including The Madness Underneath and The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson and Unspoken and The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan.

One grand-prize winner will also receive a collection of tour-stop souvenirs personally chosen by Maureen and Sarah!

How to Enter:

3. Start a new writing of 200 words or fewer.
4. Tag your writing with OntheRoad on the “Details” tab.
5. Press “Publish Now.”
6. You should receive a pop-up confirmation of your entry, and in about two hours or so, your piece should appear among the submissions.

  1. I Really enjoyed writing a scene for this. I usually sit down for hours and plan out who are my characters and their traits but for me to think of this I really feel accomplished.
