Our Favorite Doctor Who Places: A Countdown — #6

In anticipation of the new episode of Doctor Who— “The Bells of St. John”— which airs this Saturday, March 30, we’re counting down our 10 favorite places the Doctor’s ever visited.

Today, we present location #6. Did you miss #7 through #10? Check them out here. And be sure to check back all week for the rest of our list!

#6: Pompeii

as seen in: The Fires of Pompei

When it comes to volcanic eruptions, Mount Vesuvius pretty much takes the cake. Come on, a city is rocked by a giant disaster that leaves an entire population perfectly preserved? Pompeii is practically begging for a visit from the Doctor. Not only is it kind of awesome to see the fiery explosions of doom firsthand, but this location is the perfect setting for the type of ridiculously painful moral dilemma that Doctor Who loves to explore. To save the Pompeiians (Pompeiites?) from the volcano or to let them die? That is the question!

Where would you most like to travel with the Doctor? Let us know in the comments!
