Summer Romance: The Scorpio Races Short-Story Contest

The Scorpio Races by Maggie StiefvaterApril showers. May flowers. Spring fever. Forget about all that. At Figment, we’re focused on summer. And more specifically: summer romance.

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater is the story of an incredible race—and two young riders who risk their lives in hopes of winning. While the thrilling tale of demonic water horses will have you on the edge of your seat, it’s the sweet romance between Kate (AKA Puck) and Sean that keeps readers glued to the page. The pair have us swooning again and again:

Sean reaches between us and slides a thin bracelet of red ribbons over my free hand. Lifting my arm, he presses his lips against the inside of my wrist. I’m utterly still; I feel my pulse tap several times against his lips, and then he releases my hand.

“For luck,” he says. He takes Dove’s lead from me.

“Sean,” I say, and he turns. I take his chin and kiss his lips, hard. I’m reminded, all of a sudden, of that first day on the beach, when I pulled his head from the water.

“For luck,” I say to his startled face.

Inspired by the love between Sean and Puck in The Scorpio Races, we’ve got a new short-story contest for you!

It was a jar, full of possibilities. Alas, a love that ended with a single stone was the love that ended far too fast.

  1. I seem to recall there being something about possibly being disqualified if you edited your entry, but I can’t find it in the full contest rules. Does it still apply?

  2. I tagged my entry summerromance and it’s been more than 10 hours since I’ve published it but my entry still hasn’t shown up among the other entries. What’s wrong?

    • If your entry is:
      -tagged properly
-published (not saved as a draft)
-created after the announcement of the contest

You’re entered! So check those 3 things.
