Featured Fig: rookblonkorules

Each week we will be featuring one member for their outstanding contributions to the Figment community.

This week we’re featuring rookblonkorules! Check out five of their stories along with their interview questions below!

What do you enjoy most about Figment and its community?

  • I love how encouraging Figment is. You don’t have to be the best writer there is and there are plenty of people who are willing to help you become that great writer you’re aspiring to be. I’ve loved getting all kinds of encouraging and helpful critiques on my books and being able to return the favor.

What is your favorite story that you have shared on Figment and why?

  • The Silent Scream probably. I feel really strongly about that subject and I felt like God told me to write it. My mom cried when she read it and it moved a bunch of other people she showed it to. I was thrilled that my poem was able to move people in that way.

Where do you find inspiration to write and keep writing?

  • My best friends. Some of them are actually on Figment and you can find their names on my profile. They’re always there for me when I need advice on where to go in a story.

What is the last book that you read?

  • Animorphs #29 The Sickness. I love science fiction, so the Animorphs books were pure gold to me when I found them.

Do you have any advice for other Figgies looking to improve their writing?

  • Never, ever give up. If you think something you wrote stinks, look for someone to help you fix it. If you have a friend who can help you and doesn’t mind doing so, send them little snippets and they can show you errors and mistakes that you didn’t realize were there. Take reviews you get seriously. Unless they are truly nasty, they’re meant to help improve your writing. Look over your writing again while thinking about what they said. You might see that they’re actually right!

Congratulations again and thank you for sharing your talent, inspiration and advice with us! Be sure to check out some of their work below.

Congratulations again!
