  1. Hey guys,

So Im just confused about the rules. Create an entire story using only files, emails, texts, ect.

Does this mean, for example, a whole story based on context between text messages?

    • Right! No actual dialogue between two people apart from conversations that take place in one of those forms. Similar to how the book Illuminae was written if that helps. Good luck!

  2. hey i had a question about the way this is supposed to be writen. are we supposed to put in real messages that have been texted before or do we make up the messages and also by files, what do you mean.

        • Similar to the book Illuminae, anything that takes place in the book is found in files, text messages, IMs, letters, etc. So, if you want to have a conversation between characters it will need to take place in an IM, via e-mails, text messages, etc. The rest is up to you – get creative! 🙂 Good luck!

    • As long as all text and dialogue in your story comes from some type of written or typed form – the rest is up to you! Good luck!

    • You’re more than welcome to enter as many times as you would like, Natasha. However, you’ll only be able to win once. GOOD LUCK!

    • You’re more than welcome to enter as many times as you would like, Ember. However, you’ll only be able to win once. GOOD LUCK!

  3. Are we going to be marked down (so to speak) if we only write 300 or so words? I mean, I know there’s a word limit but is there a minimum?

  4. Admin,

What if the story takes place in a medieval setting where the means of communication and sharing of narrative information are only through letters, heralds, couriers, posters, and the like? Would the heralds’/couriers’ relayed messages still be acceptable by the contest rules?

    • As long as there is no live communication between the characters that’s perfect! Letters, scrolls, any of that would work out great. Good luck! We look forward to reading what you come up with!

    • You’re welcome to create multiple entries for every contest unless it’s specifically stated otherwise in the rules. Good luck!

  5. I have a quick question, does a tape recording count? like the dialogue is of one character talking through recorded tapes? Kind of similar to how “Thirteen Reasons Why” by Jay Asher was written if anyone has ever heard or read that book.

  6. Hey guys, just a quick question about the notification if we win. You said if we do have the honor of winning, you’ll send an email to our Figment email. But what if our email doesn’t work anymore? I’ve been on Figment for two/three years and have lost the password to my Figment email account. Is there any way that I could give you guys my active email account or what should I do if this were to happen?

  7. Could we use radio shows? Say if you could only year the dialogue of what the people of saying. Kind of like screenplay only without the actions and props and things. I’m doing a radio show type Q&A, and was wondering if it was contest worthy. 🙂

  8. Can we write in two mediums? For example, if your story started in letters but it requires you to switch over into text messages can you? Or do you have to stick with one medium throughout the story?

    • Sure, Mo. Typically Figment is a website that’s appropriate for young teenagers and up – however, it’s natural for writer’s to add in language to better paint a picture of their character’s personality. (As long as it’s in good taste and not meant to troll or spam of course). Happy writing!

  9. I was wondering when the results for this were going to be in. I keep checking daily and I don’t see anything about the winners. Just wondering if anyone could help me find an answer! I am so curious to see if I will win anything!

  10. I wanted to know when the results for this was going to be up. I haven’t seen anything mentioning the date that the results will be posted. Have I been looking in the wrong place(s)?
