It goes without saying that we love books and reading . . . and we know you do, too! So we want to call your attention to World Book Night, a worldwide celebration of literature.
World Book Night will take place on April 23, 2012 (that’s Shakespeare’s birthday!) across the U.S., UK, and Ireland. During the event, 50,000 people–generous patrons of the written word called book givers–will each be giving away 20 books from a select list. Do the math, Figs: that’s 1,000,000 people celebrating reading en masse.
Both adult books and young adult titles will be given away–you can see the full list of World Book Night titles here. Interested in volunteering and helping to distribute those 1,000,000 books to people with otherwise limited access to books? Apply to be a book giver here. Make sure to get your application in by Wednesday, February 6.
