Guys. Don’t look now, but you can post a question here on the Figment forums and get it answered by Jonathan Safran Foer, author of Everything is Illuminated and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, which was made into a movie AND nominated for an Oscar, and which you can start reading here on Figment.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is the story of nine-year-old Oskar Schell, who is searching for the lock that matches his key. The key belonged to his father, who died in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. Oskar won’t rest until he finds the lock, which brings him into contact with strangers and survivors and helps him come to terms with his loss.
Of all of Jonathan’s many illustrious honors (awards, degrees, prestige, turning Natalie Portman temporarily vegan) perhaps the illustrioustest is his role as judge for our scholarship with Zinch! Just write a 600-character story about your coming-of-age moment to enter to win a $500 scholarship and to have your work read by JSF, himself!
