The Dark Unwinding Short-Story Finalists!

Sharon Cameron’s novel The Dark Unwinding is the story of Katharine Tulman, a young woman who leads a rather boring life. That is, until the day her aunt send her to check on her crazy uncle who is wasting the family inheritance. When Katharine arrives at her uncle’s estate, she learns that he’s not a madman, but a genius inventor who employs an entire village. Katharine grows fond of her uncle, the townspeople, and the once-grand mansion’s crumbling maze of abandoned rooms. Will Katharine risk her inheritance to save her uncle’s peculiar community?

Inspired by the striking settings described in The Dark Unwinding, we challenged you to write a story that takes place in an idyllic English village, a crumbling mansion, or a secret passageway.
