There are so many amazing contests going on around Figment right now. And since it’s a long weekend, you’ve got the perfect opportunity to spend some extra time perfecting your story to enter into one of our bigger contests.
Here are three great ones to choose from (or enter all of them!).
The Kiss Short-Story Contest: We’re hosting a contest to celebrate the newest release in the #1 bestselling Witch & Wizard series by James Patterson, The Kiss. Inspired by the romance between Wisty and Heath, write a story about a relationship no one approves of. James’s publisher, Little, Brown, will be reading the top 200 most-hearted stories. One grand prize winner will receive $500 and an iPad mini filled with all of James Patterson’s teen novels. The winning story will be published on James’s YA site. The entry period closes at 11:59 p.m. ET on February 26, 2013.
The Requiem Contest: Bestselling author Lauren Oliver will be reading every single story entered in this high-stakes contest. Write a story in which love is dangerous and you could win a trip to New York City, a tour of the HarperTeen officers, and a year-long columnist position at Teen.com (imagine how that would look on your resume)! The entry period closes at 11:59 p.m. ET on March 3, 2013.
Out of the Easy Essay Contest: In Out of the Easy, by New York Times bestselling author Ruta Sepetys, Josie, the daughter of a New Orleans prostitute, dreams of escaping New Orleans and going to a prestigious college. Inspired by Josie’s story, Penguin is sponsoring the Out of the Easy Scholarship Contest, giving one high school senior a $5,000 scholarship to any college of their choice. Intrigued?
