If You Find Me Short-Story Contest Finalists

If You Find Me by Emily MurdochCarey has spent most of her childhood hidden away in the woods with her younger sister, Jenessa, and their mentally-ill mother. But when their mom leaves and doesn’t come back, Carey’s dad rescues them. The girls go to live with him and his family, and Carey struggle to adjust to all of the good and bad of her new life.

Inspired by If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch, we challenged you to write a story about someone who feels like a fish out of water. You wrote and voted, and we’re now pleased to announce the finalists that will be read and judged by the Figment editors!

Prizes

One grand-prize winner will receive a signed copy of If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch, along with copies of Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams, This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers, and Born At Midnight by C.C. Hunter. The grand-prize winner will also have the opportunity to choose the Figment homepage stories for one day.

Five runners-up will each receive a copy of If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch.

    After working so hard I was in eleventh place. I was so upset.
    And then people start randomly commenting on Foreign Matters.
    And so I look.

    AND THERE’S A TIE.

    Yes, I screamed out loud.

  3. This was my first contest, and it was a lot of fun. Hope to enter another one soon! Thanks to this contest, I made my most popular book yet! I didn’t make the cut, but it was still fun! Good luck!
