Carey has spent most of her childhood hidden away in the woods with her younger sister, Jenessa, and their mentally-ill mother. But when their mom leaves and doesn’t come back, Carey’s dad rescues them. The girls go to live with him and his family, and Carey struggle to adjust to all of the good and bad of her new life.
Inspired by If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch, we challenged you to write a story about someone who feels like a fish out of water. You wrote and voted, and we’re now pleased to announce the finalists that will be read and judged by the Figment editors!

Hunter. The grand-prize winner will also have the opportunity to choose the Figment homepage stories for one day.
