Pleased to Meet You: The Dare You To Short-Story Contest

Dare You To by Katie McGarryWhen Ryan first approaches Beth at a Taco Bell in Louisville, he isn’t looking for a girlfriend — he’s looking to win a dare. Out for the night with his baseball buddies, Ryan is one phone number away from winning. Beth isn’t his type. Sure, she’s pretty, but she’s a total skater chick, with her ripped jeans and nose ring. Beth’s not interested, either — and she leaves Taco Bell with the two menacing guys she came with. Ryan gets the message pretty quickly. Leave. Her. Alone.

That chance meeting at the Taco Bell isn’t the last time Beth and Ryan will see each other. But when the do meet again, they both wish they could do their first meeting over.

Inspired by Dare You To by Katie McGarry, we’ve got a new short-story contest for you!

  1. So I wrote my story for the contest and published it, but when I tagged it with FirstImpression, I accidentally tagged FirstImpressions. You won’t disqualify my entry because I messed up the tag and it looks like I used a piece that has already been published, will you?

    (Sorry if this sounds confusing)

  2. Hey, I just uploaded my story, hope I’m not too late. Am I?
If I still get lots of hearts will I be considered?

    • Entries can be edited as long as the submission period is open, or after the winners are announced UNLESS explicitly stated otherwise in the rules.

  3. I wrote the short story for the contest and put firstimpression in the tag but when I published it I didn’t receive the pop up. Does that mean it didn’t work?

    • As long as it is tagged properly, published, and created between the announcement and close of the entry period, you’re set!
