Vote Now: Our Favorite Secret Societies

Night School by C.J. DaughertyNobody can resist a good secret. In Night School by C.J. Daugherty, Allie Sheridan attends a boarding school called Cimmeria Academy, where members of the secret society, Night School, are up to something sinister. It’s against school rules to ask about Night School, but Allie is determined to uncover their secrets.

We’re crazy about the mysterious secret society in Night School — we can’t wait to find out what happens next. In the meantime, we’re counting down our favorite clandestine groups. Which of these would you most want to be a part of (secretly, of course)? Vote below! And be sure to let us know which ones we left out in the comments!

doctor who, jack harkness, martha jones, john barrowmanTorchwood

Doctor Who

Not only is Torchwood top-secret, it deals with some of the most mysterious creatures in the universe. Its members know about all kinds of aliens and alien technology (even if they don’t always know how to use it). Torchwood’s so cool that it got its own spinoff, featuring the ever-amazing Jack Harkness.

harry potter, jk rowling, ron weasley, hermione granger, dumbledore's armyDumbledore’s Army

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

All teenagers are pretty rebellious, but Harry and his friends put their rebellion to good use. They get back at Professor Umbridge for being the worst teacher ever while simultaneously preparing themselves for the fight against Lord Voldemort. Now that’s what we call a good extracurricular activity!

justice league, batman, wonder woman, supermanThe Justice League

The Justice League

What’s cooler than a secret society? How about a SUPER secret society? These superheroes have everything necessary for an undercover lifestyle: costumes, aliases, and of course, a secret hideout. You might not be able to find them, but rest assured that if you’re in trouble, they’ll find you.

iroh, avatar the last airbenderThe Order of the White Lotus

Avatar: The Last Airbender

The Order of the White Lotus works together even when their nations aren’t getting along. Basically, they’re a legion of super wise old folks who help train and protect the Avatar. We’re sure we could learn a lot from them, from how to properly battle the Fire Nation to winning at Pai Sho.

lemony snicket, a series of unfortunate eventsVFD

A Series of Unfortunate Events

We’ve read this whole series lots of times, and we’re still not exactly sure what the deal is with VFD. Even Lemony Snicket, the books’ AUTHOR, doesn’t seem to know the whole story. THAT’S how secret it is. We’d love to join up — even if we didn’t get all the information we wanted, we’d still get the awesome eye tattoo.

george rr martin, game of thronesThe Guild of the Faceless Men

Game of Thrones

Okay, this one’s kind of scarier and more evil than the other ones on our list, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome. The Faceless Men can change their appearances whenever they want, and they’re some of the deadliest assassins in the world. It’d definitely be cool to see their inner workings.

Which of these secret societies would you want to pledge to? Vote now! Were some societies too secret for us to list them? Let us know which ones we missed in the comments! If you want more stories of undercover groups, check out the first chapters of Night School right here!

    • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine too!!! We just watched it in as an English assignment and we even had to write poetry!

      • So lucky!! So wait, you had to write poetry about the movie? That is sooo cool. What did you write about? I wish we had awesome English assignments like that. 😉

  1. The Order of the White Lotus obviously!!! Come on! Nothing like a bunch of awesome, gray-haired dudes knocking some fire-bender heads!

  2. No!!! I have to choose between the HP crew and the amazing Captain Jack Harkness??? You can’t make me do this!!!

      • But with Torchwood, you have a higher possibility of running into the Doctor! Then again, wizardry is awesome too.

        • But Torchwood is so totally not secret. “Outside the government, beyond the police, head down to the wharf if you’re having problems with aliens”.

    • Choose Captain Jack 🙂 I saw the words ‘Doctor’ and ‘Who’ and everything else seemed to fade away… 😉

      • Saaame. I love the Doctor, and if I’m in Torchwood I can hang out with Jack, Martha, and eventually meet the Doctor!!!

  3. Torchwood, obviously. I mean, the DA’s cool and all, but I’d rather be studying alien technology than be stuck in a stuffy old (really, really old) castle trying to learn magic under the thumb of a bossy bad teacher any day!

    • I didn’t pick Torchwood because they were sort of part of (a lot of) the reason why Rose and 10 were separated!

      • ah! I didn’t even think about that! I picked Torchwood because it’s still Doctor Who…. but now I’m sad 🙁 ♥Rose x Ten♥

    • Haha I know right? I just didn’t pick Torchwood because they’re partially (actually a lot of) the reason why 10 and Rose weren’t together!!!!!

  4. What, you’re making me choose between the DA, Torchwood/Captain Jack Harkness, Justice League AND the VFD! How am I to choose?
(this version makes more sense, not good at html stuff)

  5. SERIOUSLY?! You’re asking me to choose from Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Batman, and Avatar: The Last Airbender?! Nice going Figment.

  6. The disreputable history of Frankie Landau Banks: The Order of the basset hounds.
THey aren’t the cleverest, or the bravest, but for those few months- they were glorious pawns, defying the panopticon.
