    • Welcome! Once you have signed up to Figment simply start writing your story. In the description section add the tag, “Skink” and you’ll be entered! Make sure to check out the rules so that your story follows the prompt specifically and is at or below the word limit. Good luck!

  1. So can we use characters from a story we already have, or does it need to be new?

Also, I had an idea, can it be like an interview?

  2. Hello,

I was wondering how the entries will be judged. Will they be read or will they be judged on hearts? Also, I was wondering if the main character is supposed to be a part of this friendship because it says “How have they impacted or changed your character’s life?”. And what do it mean by “your character’s life”?

    Thanks!
    –Rachel

    • This particular contest will not be judged with hearts. Each story will be read. Also, yes the main character should be a part of that friendship. Simply, create a plot around the friendship, how different your character’s life might be after meeting them, etc! Feel free to use your imagination. Good luck!

  3. Does it have to be a story about how friendship affected the life of a person in a good way? Is it okay to write a story how friendship affected a person’s life in a bad way?

  4. Hi! I was just wondering if the characters have to be from a previously published story or if they can just be made up specifically for this?

  5. Hello! I was wondering if the story could be about a friendship between a (biological) father and his daughter? Or is that a bit too likely?

    Thanks!

    Ian

  6. At this particular moment, I am slightly confused. Is this on anything? But it has to have some sort if unlikely friendship. Am I getting this right?

  7. Will poetry be disqualified? I have a piece I’m working on that fits the prompt, and although it’s in poetic form, the narrative is still there. Would that be acceptable as an entry?

  8. Hello,

This may be a question already posed but I was wondering how many entries we are allowed to submit. I have already written my entry and submitted it but I found another story that seems to fit the prompt. Let me know!

    Thanks!

  9. Hi! Quick question, will swear words disqualify me? How does Figment feel about cursing in general? I couldn’t find anything in contest rules.

  10. ok, so all I hve to do is write a story about friendship and tag it to sink?
Also how do I tag something? thats a little confusing.

    • Hi Abby! You’ll want to write a story that particular falls in line with the exact prompt above mentioning how it’s an unlikely friendship between characters. Also in the details tab of your story simply add in the tag, “Sink” and it will be entered! Good luck!

    • Yes! Everyone is welcome to enter – however only users in the United States are eligible to receive a free book. We will still be featuring your story across social media, the Newsletter, homepage, etc. though. Good luck!

  11. I tagged my story but how do I know you put it in the contest? Do you send me a little note maybe?? I just want to make sure that my story was accounted for thats all.

    • Hi Miriam – sometimes it takes a few hours or even a day to appear in the entries list. Check again? As long as your story was tagged with SKINK you should be fine! Good luck!

  12. hey its me again. I entered my piece a LONG time ago and taggged it skink, SKINK, and skink contest. I still don’t see it in the entries. What should I do?

  13. Hi, I’m one of the winners. I’ve won contests on here before and in the past they sent emails out before hand, to confirm addresses and such. I was wondering if you sent them already, because if so I must have missed it.

I was just wondering what the process of confirming everything was.
