About the book:

Meet Oliver, a prince literally taken from the pages of a fairy tale and transported into the real world. Meet Delilah, the girl who wished Oliver into being. It’s a miracle that seems perfect at first.9780553535563
Sure, Oliver doesn’t know that you shouldn’t try to open your locker with a dagger or that there’s no such thing as “the ruler” of the local mall. But he also looks at Delilah as if she’s the only girl in the world—the only girl in any world—and Delilah can’t help feeling that being with him is a dream come to life.

But not every story can have a happy ending. Because the book wants Oliver back. And it will turn both worlds upside down to get him.

Oliver and Delilah will have to decide what—and who—they’re willing to risk for love and what it really means for a fairy tale to come true.

      • Does that mean you can’t win if you don’t live in the US because I don’t care about prizes but it would be nice to have my work recognised if its good enough

        • You can win, Rosie since we have no way of confirming where users are from but unfortunately you wouldn’t be sent any of the physical prizes. Thanks for checking!

    • I just entered. so I have to wait 2 hours to get an email or comment or something right? And for some reason the rules are blocked from my laptop.

  1. This is a no heart contest correct? I didn’t see it mention it above, but just wanted to verify. Thanks.

  2. Does the character have to be from a published book, or can they be from a made up book like in “Off the Page”?

    • Nope – enter all day if you’d like. However you will only be able to win once so if we love them all, we’ll pick our favorite. GOOD LUCK!

  3. Does the character have to be from a book, or can it be from an art story. I see many of these stories that are drawing form with dialogue and I know many characters from them that I would like to have with me. If I can’t do this, I’m fine with it; I was just wondering if I could.

    • We will no longer be hosting heart-based contests after asking feedback from the community. All stories will be read – good luck!

  4. Hello Figment! Dose the character have to be from a book already made? or something all on your own?

    Thanks!

  5. Does it have to be a real published book (E.g. Lord of the Rings) or can it be an imaginary one (e.g. Fluffy’s Fantastic Furry Flight of Fanatic Fantasy) in our short story?

  6. Does the character have to be from an actual story that has been published or can it be a character that we made up ourselves?

  7. I tagged my story and published it, but I haven’t received any confirmation for my entry (this has happened for other contests as well). Not sure what I’m doing wrong or if I’m looking in the wrong place.

  8. Hey there admin, I’m from the UK but I’d still really like to enter a piece of work. Is there any way I can take part? I don’t mind not getting a prize or working something else out

  9. When are the entries going to show up on the page? I entered mine hours ago and I still don’t see the story up in the entries

  10. Does the character have to be human? Like the character that comes out of the book can it be something different like a dog or a even dragon?

  11. I am confused how to submit, can you explain what it means by “leave response by deadline listed in prompt.”? I clicked publish with the tag in the tag area but I haven’t gotten a pop up yet either.

  12. I just entered. So ill get a email or comment or something right? And the rules are blocked on my laptop for some reason.. Can you just tell me them?

  13. Is it possible to re-enter? I submitted a story already, but I thought of one I’d much rather do. Is it possible to delete an entry, and then re-enter with another one or is that against the rules?

    • Absolutely! You’re welcome to write as many stories as you can come up with during the contest period. However, you can only win once. GOOD LUCK!

  14. Does the character from the book have to appear explicitly in our story or can we write a story which only addresses what comes after they’re already gone?

  15. What if we accidentally put two different author names on two different entries? I put Thorn Rose on one because that’s my name, but I. Q. Isabelle on another because that’s what a few friends call me at home. Will it count against me?
    Sorry about it.

  16. I have been trying over the past week and still can’t trigger the confirmation pop-up or find my entry in the “All Entries” section. Is there something I’m doing wrong?

  17. I already published my book two days ago and neither a pop up confirmation showed nor it appeared in the contest entries. Did I do something wrong? Please help! Thanks!!

  18. One of my entries isn’t showing up. I added it twice yesterday (the 15th) before the deadline. What’s going on? And when will the winners be announced?

  19. Hi. I know there are a great deal of entries, but, do you know when we can expect a Final Judging for the writing contest named Off the Page Contest? The deadline was 6-15. It’s been fourteen days. That’s two weeks. Can you tell me when we can expect a Final Judging of this worthy writing Contest? Thank you. Have a nice day.

  20. Hi there! I know that it takes a long time to go through each of these many entries, but do you guys know approximately how long we’ll be looking at until the winners are announced? I’m more than happy to wait patiently; it’s just a lot easier to do when there’s a goal in mind.

    Thanks,
    Jess

  21. When will these results be posted? It’s been two-and-a-half months since the deadline, and literally nothing has been said about the contest.

  22. So, wondering when these winners would be announced? I checked the Spotlight page and saw that the winners for the family expectations and shadow scale contests (which came after this one) were already up.
Any word on a time line here?
