Today’s theme comes courtesy of Curtis Sittenfeld, whose bestselling debut novel “Prep” was named one of the Ten Best Books of 2005 by the New York Times. Though she’s a graduate of Stanford and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, the peak of her career came when her acclaimed third book, “American Wife,” was the answer to a Jeopardy question. That novel, which “Time” praised for its “languorous pace and a fierce literary integrity,” offered a fictionalized portrait of a certain former First Lady.
